Shelli Herman

With over a decade of service in the firm, Shelli Herman has conducted numerous executive searches, successfully filling upper management positions including those for Fortune 500 companies. She has completed senior-level assignments in a diversity of industries and fields including sales, consumer products, health care, high technology, finance, and non-profit and cultural organizations. Additionally, she brings to the firm experience in higher education, and its varied disciplines, as well as an in-depth understanding of the unique cultural environment of academia. This understanding was gained while Ms. Herman held significant management positions at both the University of Florida and Loyola Marymount University prior to joining Gary Kaplan & Associates in 1996.
Her broad capacity to excel in all functional areas adds tremendous value to any search venture she undertakes. In support of the firm’s client-centered philosophy, she is dedicated to providing an exemplary partnership within the context of delivering bottom-line results. As a testament to these results, she takes great pride in the number of clients for whom she does repeat work. Complementing her search execution and management duties in the firm, she also has responsibility for business and client development.
Ms. Herman has a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from the Wichita State University and a Master of Arts degree in higher education administration from Bowling Green State University. She was named “Senior Most Likely to Succeed” by the Wichita State University Alumni Association and is a member of the Delta Gamma Fraternity, where she remains involved as an alumni volunteer.
As a way of expressing her support for the important work of non-profit organizations, Ms. Herman is actively involved with the Junior League of Los Angeles, a volunteer organization for women focusing on leadership and service to the community. She has served several terms on the Board of Directors, at one time holding the position of Development Director. Ms. Herman is also on the Board of Trustees for the Children’s Bureau and is the Board Treasurer for the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Violence Intervention Program. As a member of the Board of Directors for the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles, she sits on the Capital Campaign Steering Committee and was Gala Co-Chair in 2006. Finally, Ms. Herman is an active member of the Student Affairs Alumni Advocate Board for Bowling Green State University.
